Karachi: The Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan inaugurated the construction of a warship for the Pakistan Navy and said, since Pakistan and Turkey are facing similar challenges, the strategic economic framework will further strengthen Pakistan-Turkey relations.
Directorate General Public Relations (DGPR) Navy took to Twitter on Sunday to inform about the launching ceremony of the warship being inaugurated by Mr Erdoğan.
The Turkish President attended the welding Ceremony of the 3rd vessel of ‘MILGEM class corvettes for #PakNavy‘.

Amid addressing at the event at Istanbul Naval Shipyard, the president said that the defense cooperation for the construction of warplanes is another milestone in the defense relations between Turkey and Pakistan.

According to the Pakistan Navy spokesman, the I-class ships will be equipped with surface water, underwater, anti-aircraft weapons, and sensors which also includes the design of 2 Jinnah class aircraft with stealth technology.

Mr. Erdogan was also accompanied by Mohammad Syrus Sajjad Qazi, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Turkey, at the groundbreaking of the third out of a total of four Milgem Ada-class corvettes.
The president reiterated that Turkey would persistently support amicable ties in the defence field and will continue to enhance bilateral bonds.
