Karachi: Minister for Industries and Production Hammad Azhar shared that he has contracted the Covid-19 via Twitter on Monday.
The Minister revealed the news and written, “I have tested positive for Covid-19 and self-isolating at home.”
Hammad Azhar also “requested everyone for prayers” in the tweet.
Ever since the virus was first detected in the country last year a plethora of politicians, including Planning Minister Asad Umar, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar, National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser, Sindh Governor Imran Ismail, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, and PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif have tested positive for the coronavirus.

Shortly after he shared the news on Twitter, several politicians commented on the tweet and sprayed him with prayers. A Pakistani senior leader of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Raza Haroon also commented and said, “Prayers for you @Hammad_Azhar Bhai. May Allah Almighty give you and all others infected with #COVID19 a speedy full and healthy recovery. Aameen”

Followed by another comment by the Minister of State for Climate Change, Zartaj Gul Wazir who wrote to Hammad Azhar, “Get well soon, Prayers for you”.

Pakistani politician and veteran actor, Farhan Ally Agha also prayed for his recovery in the comment.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Minister Taimur Khan Jhagra also contracted the deadly disease recently but have been able to get recovered.
Many Pakistani political figures also lost their battle with coronavirus among which were Former Balochistan governor Syed Fazal Agha, PTI Punjab MPA Shaheen Raza, PTI’s Mian Jamshedud Din Kakakhel, MNA Munir Khan Orakzai, PML-N Senator Kalsoom Parveen, Sindh Minister for Human Settlements Ghulam Murtaza Baloch.
Chief Justice Waqar Ahmad Seth of the Peshawar High Court also passed away in November of last year because of Covid-19.
To date, a total of 546,428 individuals have contracted coronavirus in Pakistan. About 91 percent of those individuals, or 501,252, have recovered.
On the other hand, the first shipment of coronavirus vaccines that China had previously agreed to provide is received by Pakistan and the vaccination campaign is due to commence soon.
The batch of vaccines is brought to Pakistan through a PAF aircraft, containing 500,000 doses of the Sinopharm vaccine as a gift by China.
