India despite South Africa putting it on hold is still reluctant to accept and said it had no reservations about the effectiveness of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine and requested 10 million more doses of the shot for its own huge immunization program.
According to the news published in the international news agency, Reuters, South Africa detained the use of the vaccine when researchers that it only offers minimal protection against coronavirus.
India is the second most affected by the pandemic after the US and has yet to diagnose the South African variant.
However, India will still use the vaccine while 6.3 million front-line workers have been jabbed since 16 January.
Despite what scientists have discovered regarding the Indian vaccine, the country says that “our vaccination programme is robust and valid, and I assure you that we are going ahead with it, not worried at the moment,” Vinod Kumar Paul, an Indian vaccine official told in a conference.
