The Duke of Edinburgh arrived at King Edward VII’s Hospital in London on February 16. The 99-year-old royal was released and returned to Windsor Castle on March 16 after a month in the hospital, which involved a good surgery for a pre-existing heart condition and treatment for an infection.

“Just so you know,” she said on her SiriusXM show Gayle King in the House on March 11, “they had done the interview before Prince Philip went into the hospital.” “And, Heaven forbid, if anything had happened to him, the interview would not have taken place at this time. However, the interview was completed and arranged prior to his admission to the hospital.”

Meghan said in her Oprah interview, which aired March 7, that she called Queen Elizabeth II to check in on Harry’s grandparents.

“I awoke earlier than H this morning and saw a message from someone from our U.K. team saying the Duke of Edinburgh has gone to the hospital,” she said. “So I just picked up the phone and dialed the Queen’s number to check in,” she explained. “This is exactly what we do. It’s like not having to ask yourself, “Is that appropriate?” at any turn.”

Meghan and Harry discussed their decision to step down as senior members of the royal family during the interview. Meghan said that there was a moment when she “didn’t want to be alive anymore” at one point.

She told Oprah, “I went to the institution and said that I wanted to go somewhere to get help.”

Added “‘I’ve never felt this way before, and I need to get out of here,’ I said. And I was advised I couldn’t because it would be detrimental to the organization.”

The Duchess of Sussex, who is expecting her first child, Archie Harrison, also revealed conversations she reportedly had with Harry when she was pregnant.

“All around this time when I was pregnant,” she explained, “we had the conversation of ‘He won’t be given security, he won’t be given a title,’ as well as concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he’s born.”

According to Oprah, Harry later confirmed that the Queen and Prince Philip were not involved in the alleged talks.
