PML-N celebrates Nosheen Iftikhar’s victory

Nosheen Iftikhar of the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) has triumphed in the NA-75 Daska by-election.

In a tweet, PML-N General Secretary Ahsan Iqbal said that honor and shame are in Allah’s hands. People support Nawaz Sharif and the PML-N’s vision.

As per unofficial results from all 360 polling stations, PML-‘s Nosheen Iftikhar won by 111,220 votes, while PTI’s Ali Asjad Malhi trailed with 92,019 votes, giving Syeda Nosheen a 19,201 vote lead.

The results from 159 polling stations are pending, and there is a slim possibility that the situation will improve.

The polling station opened at 8 a.m. and remained open until 5 p.m.

Voters who were present at the polling stations were permitted to vote. The election procedure was boring before midday, and then people flocked to the polling stations after 3 p.m.

The by-election polling station was well-guarded, and no unpleasant incidents were identified. Rangers is mobilized to support police and municipal government in conducting orderly elections.

PTI leader Usman Dar also surveyed the place where voting took place to check the procedure of the Daska polling station. Supporters of the PTI and the PML-N chanted slogans as he approached the polling station. Both parties accused each other of rigging and misconduct.

Rangers and Police monitored the polling stations throughout the day to avoid the similar violence that took place on 19 February. Moreover, 10 teams of the Pakistan Army were also patrolling.

During the by-elections, the constituency is closed to the public, and stringent security arrangements are in place to ensure law and order, with over 4,000 officers and 1,000 Rangers staff deploying.
