Amazon Starts to Lay off Employees

The biggest e-commerce company, Amazon announced that it has planned to lay off employees amid the struggling economies

The problematic economy all around the world has caused businesses to think deeply about their current and future plans.

Tech giant companies such as Twitter and Meta has already announced that they will lay off employees to maintain their business.

Now the e-commerce giant, Amazon has also announced that they will lay off almost 10,000 employees because of the souring economy.

CEO Andy Jassy in an interview explained, “the economy remains in a challenging spot and we’ve hired rapidly the last several years.”

About the layoffs he said, “there will be more role reductions as leaders continue to make adjustments.”

He elaborated that this is most difficult decision they have made that would severely affect the employees and their lives. He said, “without a doubt, this is the most difficult decision we’ve made.”

He continued: “It’s not lost on me or any of the leaders who make these decisions that these aren’t just roles we’re eliminating, but rather, people with emotions, ambitions, and responsibilities whose lives will be impacted.”

After the pandemic 2020, Amazon saw a hiring boom as people trapped in homes started online shopping much more than before.

Amazon workforce during the pandemic went from 1.5 million to 1.2 million employees.

However, now Amazon is laying off employees to make business adjustments.
