Pakistan has focused greatly on the development of the agricultural sector and now the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) held a meeting to improve the agricultural sector of the region.
The former governor of KPK, Shah Farman held a meeting at the Saudi Royal Embassy to discuss the production capacities and investment opportunities for the investors.
Secretary of Agriculture, Dr. Muhammad Asrar mentioned that the provincial government is trying its best to improve the agricultural sector. The government has paid immense attention to the production and cultivation of saffron in different districts of KPK, which bore great results.
Saffron is a crucial agricultural resource for Pakistan. Experts suggest that more than 100,000 acres of land is suitable for saffron and if cultivated, it can yield almost Rs. 870 billion for Pakistan.
Therefore, Dr. Asrar added that government and investors should import saffron and its seeds from Saudi Arabia and cultivate them in KP to gain maximum beneficial results. Moreover, it can be obtained at a lower price with right business strategy as well.
Furthermore, KPK land is also suitable for growing olives which can yield good quality oil as well. The government is focusing on olives crops as well.
