Just days before local body elections in Karachi and Hyderabad, Pakistani politics took a new thrilling turn as old comrades came together once again.

Mutahida Qaumi Movement (MQM)’s leader Dr. Farooq Sattar, and Pak Sar Zameen Party (PSP)’s chairman, Mustafa Kamal have come together to reunite and bury their hatchets.

MQM officials and PSP officials held a press conference in Bahadurabad Headquarters on Thursday to announce the rejoining of parties.

Mustafa Kamal launched PSP in 2016 after years of silence following leaving his former party, MQM.

MQM official, Khalid Maqbool suggests that they are joining hands for Karachi and the mandate of its people. Farooq Sattar also mentioned that this is a time of need for Karachi. He also said that Karachi gives the most taxes out of all the cities in Pakistan and yet the people of Karachi suffer mentally, physically, and financially.

Khalid Maqbool said It’s” the need of the hour that we become one voice to fight for the rights of the urban areas of Sindh… Karachi is mini Pakistan and the revenue engine of the country.”

Moreover, Khalid Maqbool said, “Our efforts to unify all factions of the [MQM] have borne fruit and all those who were hatching conspiracy against us will be disappointed today.”

The local body elections will take place in Karachi and Hyderabad on the 15th of January 2023.
