New Monsoon Wave: Sindh Braces for Rain
A fresh wave of monsoon winds sweeping in from the Bay of Bengal is poised to impact weather patterns across Pakistan, with the upper and central regions expected to bear the brunt of the change, bringing rain and thunderstorms in its wake. Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz relayed this forecast in an interview with ‘Jeo News,’ outlining the anticipated weather shifts over the coming days.
According to Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz, this monsoon surge is likely to drench several areas of Sindh, including Tharparkar, Umarkot, Mithi, and Badin, from today until August 11. Showers are also predicted for the districts of Jacobabad, Sukkur, and Larkana during this period.

In Karachi, residents can expect a light spell of rain to kick off today, lingering until August 11. While heavy downpours aren’t in the cards for Karachi, Sarfaraz mentioned that light rain or drizzle is likely, especially in the city’s outskirts and near the Kir Thar range.
The Meteorological Department has predicted overcast skies for Karachi in the next 24 hours, with sporadic rain and drizzle possible. Today, the city’s minimum temperature has been recorded at 28.4 degrees Celsius, with highs reaching approximately 33 degrees Celsius. Winds are currently blowing from the west at 18 kilometers per hour, and the humidity level is at 78 percent.
Though the rain may bring some relief from the heat, Karachi is not expected to experience the kind of heavy rainfall that could cause significant disruptions. However, these showers might still lead to localized waterlogging, particularly in areas with inadequate drainage.
Conversely, the heavier rains predicted for districts like Tharparkar, Umarkot, and Badin could have more profound impacts, potentially disrupting daily life and agricultural activities. Residents in these regions are advised to stay alert and take necessary precautions in light of the changing weather conditions.
