As Pakistan prepares to celebrate its 78th Independence Day, international leaders, including the Russian Ambassador to Pakistan and US Senator Chris Van Hollen, extended their heartfelt congratulations and well wishes to the people of Pakistan.

On Tuesday, Russian Ambassador to Pakistan, Albert P. Khorev, expressed his deep admiration for Pakistan’s rich cultural heritage, natural beauty, and hospitable people. In a message to the nation, Khorev stated, “Let me extend my heartfelt congratulations on the occasion of Independence Day of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.” He praised Pakistan’s potential across various spheres of life, emphasizing that the country’s most valuable asset is its hardworking and sincere people. “Youm-e-Azadi Mubarak!” the ambassador added, wishing the nation prosperity, well-being, and happiness.
Similarly, US Senator Chris Van Hollen from Maryland also conveyed his well wishes to Pakistan through a video message. Reflecting on the strong bonds between the two nations, Senator Hollen said, “I’m very pleased to join all of you in celebrating Pakistan’s Independence Day. Over the past 77 years, the people of the United States and the people of Pakistan have built strong bonds of friendship.” He highlighted the contributions of the Pakistani American community in the United States, noting their role as important bridge builders between the two countries.
Senator Hollen also shared his personal experiences with the Pakistani community, saying, “Throughout my life, I have experienced the generosity and warmth of the Pakistani people.” He emphasized the significant contributions of Pakistani Americans in various fields in the US and concluded his message by wishing all Pakistanis a very happy Independence Day.
As Pakistan gears up for its 78th Independence Day, preparations are in full swing across the country. National flags, buntings, and lights adorn buildings, vehicles, and rooftops, while stalls selling flags, caps, and green and white clothing have sprung up along busy roadsides and in shops.
In addition to these celebrations, Thomas Suozzi, head of the Pakistani caucus in the United States Congress, extended his greetings to Pakistani Americans in a video message. Speaking in Urdu, Suozzi said, “Assalam-o-alaikum. Meray Pakistani Bhaiyo aur Behno (My Pakistani brothers and sisters),” and wished them a “Happy Independence Day.”
Suozzi, who serves as the chairman of the Pakistani caucus in the US Congress, vowed to strengthen the ties between the US and Pakistan. He acknowledged the contributions of the educated and successful Pakistani American community to the prosperity of the United States, saying, “Pakistani-Americans have contributed so much to our state, to our country, to make it better.”
Recalling his visit to Pakistan after the devastating floods in 2022, Suozzi expressed his commitment to continuing the work of his former co-chair, the late Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, in building a stronger relationship between the two countries. “Let’s keep on moving forward. Happy anniversary and Pakistan Zindabad (Long Live Pakistan). Shukriya (Thank you),” he concluded.
As Pakistan marks another year of independence, the nation stands proud of its achievements and the strong international ties it continues to foster.
