In a recent conversation with Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib, EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell reaffirmed the European Union’s commitment to maintaining regional stability along the volatile Lebanon-Israel border. Borrell emphasized the importance of preserving the lives of civilians, especially in light of the escalating conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.
Borrell took to X to highlight the EU’s support for Lebanon’s de-escalation efforts, stressing the need for adherence to UN Security Council Resolution 1701, which was established in 2006 to end hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah. His remarks come after a recent exchange of attacks between the two sides, further underscoring the fragile security situation in the region.
