Apple to Launch iPhone 16, Which Devices Could Be Discontinued?

Apple will host its annual September event on September 9 at Apple Park in Cupertino. This year, the event is called “It’s Glowtime.” Apple will unveil iPhone 16 and other new devices. But as always, the company is expected to discontinue some older devices.

Reports suggest that the company may discontinue the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max soon after the iPhone 16 launch. This decision would make sense, as these models are currently the only iPhones capable of running Apple Intelligence. By discontinuing them, Apple could push customers to buy the new iPhone 16 series to access the latest AI features.

iPhone 14 Plus

Last year, Apple discontinued the iPhone 13 Mini after launching the iPhone 14. If Apple follows this pattern, the iPhone 14 Plus could be next. This would leave only the standard iPhone 14 on the market. Rumors suggest that Apple might phase out its “Plus” models altogether. Some reports indicate that Apple could replace the “Plus” model with an “Air” model in the iPhone 17 series.

iPhone 13

The iPhone 13, launched in 2021, is currently the oldest iPhone available for sale. It’s likely that Apple will discontinue this model after the iPhone 16 series launch. As Apple introduces new models, it typically phases out older ones to streamline its product lineup.

AirPods 2 and AirPods 3

Apple is also expected to unveil the new AirPods 4 at the September 9 event. The new AirPods will likely come in two variants: one to replace the AirPods 2 and another to replace the AirPods 3. The main difference between the two models could be active noise cancellation (ANC). The mid-range AirPods 4 might include ANC, while the entry-level model may not. This move would align with Apple’s strategy of offering a range of options at different price points.
