NASA astronaut Nick Hague and Roscosmos cosmonaut Aleksandr Gorbunov are set to launch on the Crew-9 mission to the International Space Station (ISS) no earlier than Tuesday, Sept. 24. Originally, NASA astronauts Zena Cardman and Stephanie Wilson were scheduled to join the mission, but NASA has now reassigned them to a future flight.
This change in crew members comes after NASA decided to return the Boeing Crew Flight Test as an uncrewed mission and launch Crew-9 with two vacant seats. The uncrewed Boeing mission was part of NASA’s ongoing efforts to test and certify new spacecraft for safe human spaceflight.

Following the launch, Hague and Gorbunov will remain aboard the ISS until February 2025. They will then return to Earth with NASA astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams, who arrived at the ISS aboard Boeing’s Starliner spacecraft in June.
The Crew-9 mission will continue NASA and Roscosmos’s collaboration in maintaining and operating the ISS, contributing to ongoing scientific research and international cooperation in space exploration.
