Bangladesh’s top six batters delivered crucial contributions to achieve a historic 2-0 clean sweep in the Test series against Pakistan. Starting Day 5 of the second Test in Rawalpindi at 42/0, Bangladesh chased down the 185-run target in the second session. The experienced duo of Mushfiqur Rahim and Shakib Al Hasan guided the team to victory. This 2-0 win marks Bangladesh’s second overseas series victory and their first-ever series win against Pakistan.
Shadman Islam began the final day with a confident boundary off Mohammad Ali. Pakistan’s pacers bowled tightly, keeping the openers on their toes. Despite some close calls, Shadman and Zakir Hasan extended their partnership past fifty. Zakir scored 40 before Mir Hamza bowled him, breaking the stand.
Pakistan’s disciplined bowling made run-scoring difficult for Bangladesh. Shadman, after a few boundaries, was dismissed trying to drive a Khurram Shahzad delivery. Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mominul Haque then built a strong partnership, bringing Bangladesh closer to the target. They added 80 runs in the first session, reducing the target to 63 by lunch.

In the second session, Najmul provided momentum with a reverse-swept four off Salman but was soon caught at short leg, ending a 57-run stand. Mominul and Rahim continued to chip away at the target, with Rahim surviving two reviews in Abrar Ahmed’s over. Mominul was dismissed for 34, but Shakib and Rahim calmly took Bangladesh closer to victory.
Shakib sealed the win with a boundary off Abrar, sparking celebrations in the Bangladesh dressing room.
The foundation for Bangladesh’s win was laid by Litton Das and Mehidy Hasan Miraz on Days 2 and 3. After a washed-out Day 1, Bangladesh bowled Pakistan out for 274, with Mehidy taking five wickets. Despite a shaky start in their first innings, Litton’s 138 and Mehidy’s 78 helped Bangladesh finish close to Pakistan’s total. On Day 4, Hasan Mahmud’s five-wicket haul and Nahid Rana’s 4 for 44 bowled Pakistan out for 172, setting up the chase.
