A ten-year-old boy from Swat, Muhammad Bashar, made Pakistan proud by securing fourth place in an international Quran recitation competition in Algeria. Bashar competed in the prestigious “Mazamir Dawood” contest, organized by the Algerian media outlet Echorouk.

The competition, held from August 18 to 31, featured participants from over 15 countries. Bashar’s remarkable achievement earned him a prize of $1,500. His success highlights the strong cultural and spiritual ties between Pakistan and Algeria.

Echorouk hosts this Quran Recitation Competition annually to showcase the talents of young Quran reciters from around the world. The Ministry of Religious Affairs and Endowments of Algeria also organizes an international contest each year under the patronage of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
