The UN World Health Organization (WHO) reported a dramatic rise in cholera related deaths for 2023, with the number of fatalities increasing by 71 percent compared to the previous year. According to the global cholera statistics released on Wednesday, over 4,000 people died from the disease last year. This significant rise in deaths corresponds with a 13 percent increase in reported cases.
