The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) informed the Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday that social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, has been restored for users across the country.
PTA’s lawyer, Ahsan Imam, announced that the authority has withdrawn its previous notification regarding the suspension of X services. This statement was submitted in response to the SHC’s inquiry about the ban on the platform in Pakistan.
Following the PTA’s update, the court postponed the hearing for two weeks.
Previously, on April 17, the SHC had directed the Ministry of Interior to revoke its letter that suspended the platform, giving a one-week deadline for compliance.
The ban on X was initially imposed in February after the 2024 general elections, restricting access to the platform nationwide.
