PCB Hosts High-Level Connection Camp

This is to Shape the Future of Pakistan Cricket

Lahore: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will host a high-level Connection Camp on Monday, bringing together elite players, coaches, and management to define a unified vision for the future of Pakistan cricket. This strategic session, taking place at a local hotel, follows a series of consultations that PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi initiated after assuming office earlier this year.

The camp will feature nine top cricketers, including white-ball captain Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Rizwan, Saim Ayub, Salman Ali Agha, Saud Shakeel, Shadab Khan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and red-ball captain Shan Masood. They will be joined by national team head coaches Jason Gillespie (red-ball) and Gary Kirsten (white-ball), assistant coach Azhar Mahmood, and High-Performance specialist David Reid. Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and the PCB leadership team will lead the session.

The primary goal of the Connection Camp is to establish a shared vision and mission for Pakistan cricket, while developing a roadmap to reignite the pride and excellence that has defined the team since it gained Test status in 1952. The PCB aims to strengthen collaboration between players and the board while supporting the players in meeting strategic objectives.

Fostering Collaboration and Setting Strategic Goals

Chairman Mohsin Naqvi emphasized the importance of the session, stating, “The Connection Camp is a critical step toward unifying our approach to restore Pakistan cricket to its former glory. Our aim is to identify key issues, foster open dialogue, and collectively agree on a strategic path forward.”

Naqvi stressed the need to directly address challenges facing Pakistan cricket and establish clear, actionable goals that align with the expectations of passionate cricket fans. The PCB hopes that the camp will lead to a results-driven strategy that enhances player management and team performance.

“This is the first step in an ongoing journey to reshape Pakistan cricket,” Naqvi added. “The PCB will continue these collaborative efforts to ensure long-term success, keeping fans at the heart of our mission.”

Players and Coaches Align for Future Success

Pakistan Test team captain Shan Masood highlighted the importance of the camp for the players. “This is an important moment for us as players. We’re fully committed to working with the PCB to reignite the pride and passion that Pakistan cricket is known for,” Masood said. He explained that the discussions would help set a strong course for the future, and players are eager to be part of this collaborative effort.

Masood added that the camp’s outcomes would include performance benchmarks, player development programs, and strategies to enhance grassroots cricket. “This initiative aligns with the PCB’s vision to not only improve immediate team performance but also ensure long-term sustainability of excellence in the sport.”

Red-ball head coach Jason Gillespie echoed this sentiment, noting that the camp provides a valuable opportunity for open dialogue between coaching staff and players. “We’re all striving toward the same goal—raising the standard of Pakistan cricket and creating a culture of winning,” Gillespie stated.

White-ball head coach Gary Kirsten emphasized his responsibility to create an environment where players can thrive. “We will focus on refining our approach in white-ball cricket to meet the standards of the highest levels of international competition. Most importantly, we will ensure the people of Pakistan are proud of their national team,” Kirsten said.

As the PCB and the national team work together through this Connection Camp, the hope is to forge a unified path that ensures the continued success and growth of Pakistan cricket both on and off the field.
