ISLAMABAD: Barrister Salman Akram Raja, the Secretary General of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), stressed the need for PTI founder Imran Khan and former first lady Bushra Bibi to meet their families. He described this as a basic human right for inmates to have family visits.
Speaking outside the Islamabad High Court (IHC), Raja announced his intention to appeal to the court for Khan to be allowed to see his sister and doctor. He expressed hope that the government would adopt a more humane approach to this situation.
Raja also emphasized the significance of consulting Khan on political matters, particularly in these challenging times. He condemned the government’s actions, accusing it of undermining the political process and ignoring human rights. Raja stated that he has been attending court proceedings daily and noted that Khan had only been permitted family meetings twice during the Toshakhana case hearings.
