ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is expected to leave for Dubai today after the approval of the constitutional amendment.
Sources revealed that Bilawal will travel to Dubai to meet his sister, Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari. His visit to Dubai was previously delayed due to ongoing work on the constitutional amendment. Bilawal is expected to stay in Dubai for a few days.
Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif cancelled his scheduled visit to Samoa. This decision was made due to the urgency of finalizing the constitutional package.
In a separate development, Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar announced that the draft of the constitutional package would be presented to the federal cabinet on Sunday for formal approval. Speaking to the media alongside Information Minister Attaullah Tarar in Islamabad, he said that the proposals of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman had been included in the draft. The Law Minister also informed the cabinet about the detailed discussions held on the amendment. He shared that the stance of the allied political parties was presented during the cabinet meeting.
On Saturday, the National Assembly and Senate sessions were delayed after multiple meetings at Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s residence in Islamabad. These meetings involved key political figures and leaders from various parties, including PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, and Balochistan National Party (Mengal) head Akhtar Mengal.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s Residence
The draft of the constitutional amendment was initially scheduled for presentation on Saturday but was postponed to Sunday following discussions. Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s residence became the center of political activity throughout the day, with visits from Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, and other political leaders.
