Addressing the students, he expressed solidarity with the people of Palestine, comparing the atrocities in Gaza to historic tragedies. He called on the global community to put an end to the bloodshed in Palestine and Lebanon. PM Shehbaz assured the students that Pakistan is their “second home” and that the country stands with them in their time of need.

Top Hezbollah Official Killed in Israeli Strike
Hezbollah confirmed that an Israeli airstrike killed its high-ranking official, Hashem Safieddine. Safieddine, expected to succeed the slain Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, died during the ongoing military operations. He had been co-leading Hezbollah with Naim Qassem after Nasrallah’s assassination. This death delivers a major blow to Hezbollah’s leadership.
Israeli authorities denied the UN’s request to deliver aid to Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, according to the UN’s humanitarian office (OCHA). Although critical patients were evacuated, the blocked aid, which included food, fuel, and medicine, worsened the humanitarian crisis. WHO officials expressed frustration, calling the aid denial “incomprehensible.”
An Israeli security source indicated that the Israeli army remains prepared to continue operations in Gaza and Lebanon for “months” if needed to ensure Israel’s security.
The source emphasized that Israel’s actions are not specifically against Gaza or Lebanon, but rather against groups like Hamas and Hezbollah. The Israeli military has reportedly succeeded in dismantling much of these groups’ military infrastructure, while also responding to Iran’s involvement in the conflict.
Hezbollah Retaliation Against Israel
In response to Israeli raids on Lebanon, Hezbollah launched a salvo of rockets targeting an Israeli military base near Haifa. The attack was carried out “in defense of Lebanon and its people,” according to Hezbollah. This escalation highlights the continued tensions between Israel and Hezbollah along the northern border.
Harvard Study on MK-84 Bombs in Gaza
A recent Harvard University study has raised concerns about possible humanitarian law violations in Gaza. The study revealed that US-made MK-84 bombs, used by the Israeli military, were detonated dangerously close to hospitals in Gaza. Researchers analyzed the impact of these bombs and their proximity to civilian areas, highlighting the devastating effects on local populations. The study found that the blast radius of these bombs poses a significant risk to human lives and infrastructure, particularly in densely populated areas like Gaza.
