Mohammad Rizwan, the newly appointed captain of Pakistan’s white-ball cricket team, and his squad have arrived in Melbourne. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) shared the news. The team landed on Wednesday to begin preparations for their upcoming series against Australia.
Rizwan was accompanied by vice-captain Salman Ali Agha and fellow players Abdullah Shafiq, Aamer Jamal, Saim Ayub, Kamran Ghulam, Haseebullah, and Arafat Minhas. In discussing the team’s lineup, Rizwan emphasized the blend of youth and experience within the squad. “We have created a combination of young and senior players. We’ve included some players from the Champions Cup, while Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq are excellent players; we will miss their contributions,” he said.
Key Players Join the Team
Prior to Rizwan’s arrival, several key players made their way to Melbourne. Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf, and Naseem Shah reached the city on Tuesday. Babar, in particular, drew a large crowd at the airport, with fans eager for selfies and autographs.
Recovery and Return for ODI Series
It’s noteworthy that Babar, Shaheen, and Naseem were rested during the second and third Tests against England earlier this month due to underwhelming performances in the first Test. However, they are set to return for the One Day International (ODI) series, which begins on November 4. This return is anticipated to bolster the team’s chances against Australia, adding depth and experience to the lineup.
