Hong Kong: In a thrilling match on Friday, Pakistan outclassed arch-rivals India by six wickets to secure their spot in the quarter-finals of the Hong Kong Sixes tournament. Asif Ali led Pakistan to victory, scoring his second fifty of the tournament, including two boundaries and seven sixes, before retiring.

Strong Start in the Chase

Pakistan was set a target of 120 in just six overs. Openers Mohammad Akhlaq and Asif Ali took charge, with Asif delivering fireworks from the outset. Akhlaq started slowly but quickly gained momentum, contributing 40 runs off just 12 balls. His powerful innings included three boundaries and four sixes, giving Pakistan a solid footing.

Captain’s Finishing Touch

Captain Faheem Ashraf added the finishing touch, smashing 22 runs off only five balls to complete the chase. This victory marked Pakistan’s second consecutive win in Pool C, having previously defeated UAE. Notably, Pakistan has not lost a single wicket in both of their group-stage matches.

India’s Strong Batting Effort

Earlier, India set a competitive total of 119, with 41-year-old Bharat Chipli scoring a brisk 53 off 16 balls. Chipli’s innings included six boundaries and four sixes, putting pressure on Pakistan’s bowlers. Faheem Ashraf managed to claim two wickets, although he conceded 50 runs in his two overs.

With this win, Pakistan moves confidently into the quarter-finals, showcasing their batting strength and resilience. Asif Ali’s consistent form and the team’s undefeated streak make them strong contenders in the tournament.
