A strike on a polio vaccination centre in northern Gaza injured six people on Saturday. The World Health Organization (WHO) confirmed that four children were among the injured.
Parents Bring Children Despite Risks
Parents had brought their children to the Sheikh Radwan primary health care centre for polio vaccinations. A humanitarian pause was in place to allow vaccinations in the area. Despite this, the centre was struck, causing chaos and injuries.

WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus reported the incident on social media, X. He described the vaccination efforts as “life-saving,” noting the risks Gaza families face to protect their children.
WHO Calls for Protection of Health Facilities
The WHO expressed concern for the safety of health workers and patients. Health workers in Gaza continue efforts to fight polio, despite ongoing violence. WHO urged all parties to respect pauses meant for humanitarian activities.
Moreover, UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell voiced deep concerns over a deadly weekend of attacks in North Gaza. In a statement, she revealed that over 50 children were killed in just 48 hours in the Jabalia area. Strikes destroyed two residential buildings, which had sheltered hundreds.
