Iran Pledges ‘Measured Response’ to Recent Israeli Attack on Iranian Military

Share the latest news updates

Iran has announced it will respond “measured and calculated” to Israel’s recent airstrikes targeting Iranian military sites, stressing its determination to defend sovereignty and regional stability. During a press conference in Islamabad on Tuesday, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi affirmed that Iran will “certainly” respond to Israel’s actions in due course. Araghchi’s statement, which came amid heightened tensions, has underscored Iran’s position on regional defense and its broader stance on regional security.

Response to Israeli Strikes on Iranian Military

Araghchi condemned the October 26 attacks, where Israeli forces reportedly struck about 20 Iranian military bases across Ilam, Khuzestan, and Tehran. Israel stated these strikes were defensive measures, alleging that the targeted bases supported attacks from Iran and its proxies. Iran, however, sees this as a blatant violation of its sovereignty and vowed a calculated response. Araghchi underscored Iran’s “legitimate right” to retaliate, in line with the United Nations charter.

Pakistani-Iranian Solidarity and Support for Palestine

The Iranian Foreign Minister’s visit to Islamabad has reinforced cooperation between Pakistan and Iran, particularly on issues of mutual security and sovereignty. Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar joined Araghchi in condemning Israeli aggression, voicing support for Iran’s right to self-defense. Dar stated, “We reject the efforts by occupying powers to equate the right of self-determination with terrorism, which is simply a ploy to justify prolonged occupation and apartheid policies.”

Both officials reiterated a shared stance on Palestinian rights, advocating for an independent Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital. Dar emphasized that both the Palestinian and Kashmir issues, rooted in the denial of self-determination, require peaceful resolutions in line with UN mandates.

Developing a Joint Strategy at the OIC Summit

A key outcome of Araghchi’s Islamabad visit was the decision to jointly present a strategy at the upcoming Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) summit in Tehran. This strategy will address increasing regional instability and “Israeli aggression,” aiming to bring together Islamic nations in a unified stance. Both Pakistan and Iran see this summit as an opportunity to highlight ongoing regional conflicts and promote collective action.

Commitment to Regional Cooperation

In addition to addressing security concerns, Araghchi and Dar discussed ways to strengthen Pakistan-Iran ties through increased trade, border security, and cooperation on energy projects. The two ministers also signed a commitment to combat terrorism, recognizing it as a “common threat” to both nations. This renewed cooperation includes pledges to expand trade, investment, and people-to-people exchanges.

Reinforcing Regional Support for Palestine

Araghchi praised Pakistan’s consistent support for the Palestinian cause, noting that both nations view Israel’s actions as unjust and counterproductive to peace. Both countries condemned recent violence in Gaza and affirmed their commitment to uphold Palestinians’ right to self-determination. Dar stated, “We remain committed to countering any attempts to suppress the legitimate aspirations of oppressed communities.”

The visit highlighted Pakistan and Iran’s shared vision for regional stability, with both ministers condemning external aggression and calling for peaceful resolutions to long-standing conflicts. The two sides agreed that their ongoing collaboration—especially on regional and trade matters—will be instrumental in enhancing security and economic stability across the region.
