KURRAM: At least 38 people were killed, and several others injured when unidentified gunmen attacked passenger vehicles in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s (K-P) Kurram district on Thursday.
The convoy was traveling from Parachinar to Peshawar when it came under heavy fire in the remote Ochut area. Gunmen targeted the vehicles from surrounding hills, unleashing automatic gunfire.
Police confirmed that the initial attack left 10 people dead, including a woman. Several injured passengers are in critical condition. Authorities fear the death toll could rise further.

Medical teams quickly reached the site to transfer injured passengers to nearby hospitals. Local hospitals are on high alert as they treat the wounded.
The provincial government deployed additional security forces to Kurram following the attack. Officials confirmed a perimeter has been established around Ochut, and search operations are underway to find the attackers.
The motives behind the ambush remain unknown. So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
