Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan led a late-night delegation to Adiala Jail on Monday to consult party founder Imran Khan. The meeting revolved around the party’s ongoing political strategy, particularly its steadfast decision to move forward with a final protest march. The keyword “final protest push” reflects the party’s unwavering resolve.
Key Leaders Brief Imran Khan
The delegation, which included three senior PTI leaders, updated Khan on negotiations with the government. Discussions lasted over an hour, focusing on recent political developments and the party’s response. Barrister Gohar delivered a critical message from party leadership, further cementing their alignment on future actions.
The leaders also sought Khan’s guidance on the protest strategy amid reports of behind-the-scenes contacts between PTI and government officials. Despite extensive talks, PTI’s determination to proceed with the march remained firm.
Earlier Discussions with Legal Advisors
Earlier on Monday, Barrister Gohar and Barrister Saif had met with Khan for an hour and a half. After exiting Adiala Jail, the legal advisors refrained from divulging details but described the meeting as “important.” Gohar reaffirmed Khan’s directive that the protest must continue, declaring, “The protest has not been called off; it is final.”
When asked about the ongoing negotiations, Barrister Gohar expressed cautious optimism. He stated, “If they go forward, God willing, we will talk.” This indicates that while PTI is prepared to negotiate, their commitment to the protest remains unshaken.
Government Negotiation Efforts
Meanwhile, the government has reportedly reached out to PTI leadership to propose alternative protest arrangements. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi is said to have initiated discussions at the Ministers Enclave. The proposal involves relocating the protest to Peshawar Morr or another area outside Islamabad, ensuring demonstrators avoid the city’s Red Zone.
This suggestion aims to prevent disruptions to a major business conference with Belarusian investors scheduled in Islamabad. The government has emphasized that PTI protesters must adhere to a strict agreement confining them to the designated area, ensuring public safety and avoiding interference with international engagements.
PTI’s Response to Alternatives
Sources indicate that while the PTI has acknowledged the government’s proposal, they remain steadfast in their plans. Leaders have reiterated that the protest, a critical aspect of their political strategy, will proceed according to Khan’s directives.

High Stakes for PTI and Government
As tensions rise, both PTI and the government face significant challenges. For PTI, the march represents an opportunity to assert its political strength. For the government, ensuring security and minimizing disruption is paramount, especially during an international conference.
The coming days will be decisive in determining whether negotiations can prevent an escalation or if both sides will stand their ground. PTI’s “final protest push” promises to shape the political landscape in the near term.
