Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir reiterated the unwavering readiness of Pakistan’s armed forces to protect the nation’s territorial integrity and sovereignty against the “entire spectrum of threats.” During a visit to troops participating in field exercises near Narowal and Sialkot, he emphasized the military’s preparedness and resilience, even amid increasing attacks on security forces.
This declaration comes as Pakistan witnesses a surge in violence targeting security checkpoints and law enforcement, particularly in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The situation has heightened public concern and underscored the importance of the military’s role in ensuring national security.
Sharp Rise in Security Threats
November emerged as one of the deadliest months for security forces this year, with 68 personnel martyred, according to the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS). Recent attacks, such as the assault on a security checkpoint in KP’s Mali Khel area that resulted in 12 casualties, highlight the escalating threat from the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). The TTP resumed attacks after breaking a fragile ceasefire agreement in 2022, intensifying the challenges faced by law enforcement agencies.
Field Training to Counter Modern Challenges
COAS Asim Munir’s visit to the training area showcased the army’s commitment to operational excellence. The troops conducted integrated fire and manoeuvre operations involving divisions like infantry, mechanized infantry, armour, artillery, air defense, and aviation units. The exercise also incorporated anti-tank guided missile units and electronic warfare tactics, crucial for modern battlefield environments.
The training aimed to enhance professional skills and battlefield strategies to counter emerging challenges. It emphasized disrupting enemy communications and countering disinformation, which are critical in contemporary warfare. General Munir praised the troops’ morale, operational readiness, and training standards, underscoring the importance of constant preparedness.

Nation’s Support and Military Resolve
During the visit, General Asim Munir highlighted the vital role of public support in strengthening the armed forces. He reassured the nation of the military’s capability to address threats comprehensively, from physical attacks to economic sabotage. His reference to the “spectrum of threats” reflects a strategic approach to national defense, encompassing both traditional and unconventional challenges.
The COAS also reiterated the military’s commitment to dismantling hostile networks and eliminating activities undermining national security. This resolve aligns with broader efforts to combat terrorism and safeguard Pakistan’s sovereignty.
Comprehensive Strategy for National Defense
The exercise near Narowal and Sialkot demonstrated the military’s focus on refining operational readiness and adapting to evolving threats. From advanced firepower techniques to countering cyber strategies, the training reinforced the army’s ability to respond effectively to adversaries.
The Chief of Army Staff’s visit not only boosted troop morale but also sent a clear message of the armed forces’ preparedness to the nation and its adversaries. As Pakistan faces complex security challenges, the military’s proactive measures reflect a steadfast commitment to safeguarding the country’s sovereignty and stability.
