The remittances sent by overseas Pakistanis through Roshan Digital Accounts (RDA) have crossed $9.138 billion since the launch of the initiative. The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) reported this significant achievement on Monday.
Between September 2020 and November 2024, Roshan Digital Accounts proved to be a reliable channel for remittances. In November 2024 alone, overseas Pakistanis sent $186 million in foreign exchange back to the country.
The initiative has played a crucial role in supporting Pakistan’s economy. It connects non-resident Pakistanis with the country’s financial system through an efficient and accessible platform.
Steady Growth in Investments
State Bank officials also reported strong growth in investments through RDAs. Overseas Pakistanis have invested $1.189 billion since the launch of the program.
In November 2024 alone, overseas Pakistanis invested $61 million in Pakistan. This reflects their trust in the country’s investment opportunities and financial tools.
Investment Breakdown
The State Bank provided a breakdown of the total investments made through Roshan Digital Accounts:
- $462 million was invested in Naya Pakistan Certificates (NPC), which offer attractive returns for conventional investors.
- $712 million went into Naya Pakistan Islamic Certificates, designed to cater to Shariah-compliant investment needs.
- $51 million was invested in Roshan Equity Investments and other instruments.
These investment options have encouraged overseas Pakistanis to support Pakistan’s economy while securing profitable returns.
A Boost to Economic Stability
The Roshan Digital Accounts initiative has become a cornerstone for Pakistan’s financial stability. It allows millions of overseas Pakistanis to contribute to the economy without any hassle.
The State Bank emphasized that RDAs ensure easy account opening, quick transactions, and attractive returns for investors. The platform caters to both conventional and Islamic banking preferences.
Officials noted that the remittances and investments have boosted foreign exchange reserves and provided much-needed stability to the economy.
Strong Trust from Overseas Pakistanis
Overseas Pakistanis continue to express confidence in the Roshan Digital Accounts. The consistent growth in remittances and investments highlights their strong bond with the country.
Financial experts believe that initiatives like RDA are essential to attract long-term foreign investment and remittances. They argue that similar programs can further strengthen ties between Pakistan and its expatriate community.
