PESHAWAR: Rustam Shah Mohmand, former ambassador and chief secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, passed away on Friday at the age of 82 following a brief illness.
Family sources confirmed that his funeral prayers will be held today (Saturday) at 4 pm on Shami Road in Peshawar.
Rustam Shah Mohmand served Pakistan in several key roles during his distinguished career. These included positions such as interior secretary, chief secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, commissioner for Afghan refugees, and Pakistan’s ambassador to Afghanistan. His contributions to public service, foreign policy, and administrative governance earned him widespread respect.

A National Loss
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi expressed deep sorrow over Mr. Mohmand’s passing. In a statement, the governor described the former diplomat’s death as a national loss.
Governor Faisal Karim Kundi praised Rustam Shah Mohmand’s contributions to the country’s development, foreign affairs, and administrative matters, saying the nation will always honor his achievements in golden words. He highlighted Mr. Mohmand’s leadership skills, commitment, and sincerity, which, he said, made him an exemplary figure.
