Liam Payne’s Tragic Fall: Three Charged with Manslaughter
The investigation into Liam Payne’s tragic death has taken a significant turn, as Argentinian authorities charged three individuals with manslaughter and two others with drug supply. The former One Direction star, aged 31, fell from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires on October 16, 2024. The charges center on negligence and alleged drug-related activities surrounding the events leading to his death.
Details of the Incident
Liam Payne fell from the third-floor balcony of the Casa Sur Hotel, suffering fatal injuries upon impact with the patio below. Witnesses and evidence revealed that Payne had a history of addiction and was seen demanding drugs and alcohol shortly before his death. Autopsy results confirmed significant levels of cocaine and alcohol in his system.
Judge Laura Bruniard, who is overseeing the case, concluded that Payne’s state of intoxication made him vulnerable. Despite his condition, hotel staff and his companion failed to ensure his safety, leading to accusations of gross negligence.
Individuals Charged with Manslaughter
Authorities charged Roger Nores, Payne’s companion during his stay, along with Gilda Martín, the hotel manager, and Esteban Grassi, the head of reception, with negligent homicide. Nores, accused of abandoning Payne in his vulnerable state, left the hotel shortly before the fatal incident.
Martín and Grassi allegedly allowed Payne to be taken to his room despite noticing his incapacitated state. The balcony in the room, deemed a safety hazard, became the focal point of the tragedy. Judge Bruniard emphasized their failure to secure Payne in a safe environment and provide medical care, labeling their actions imprudent though not malicious.

Drug Supply Allegations
Two others, Braian Paiz, a waiter, and Ezequiel Pereyra, a hotel employee, face charges of supplying narcotics to Payne. According to court records, they delivered cocaine to the singer on multiple occasions in the days leading to his death.
Paiz allegedly met Payne at a restaurant where he worked and later accompanied him to his hotel room. Meanwhile, Pereyra reportedly sold drugs to Payne and arranged their delivery. Both face potential prison sentences ranging from four to 15 years if convicted.
Judge’s Findings
Judge Bruniard stated that Payne’s intoxication led to his fatal fall. Contrary to initial speculations, forensic evidence suggested he attempted to leave the balcony rather than losing his balance. The judge highlighted Payne’s vulnerability and the role of those charged in failing to prevent the tragedy.
She concluded that the three individuals charged with manslaughter contributed to creating a dangerous situation that resulted in Payne’s death.
