Introducing Cheol-su

The surprises didn’t stop there. During the credits, viewers were introduced to Cheol-su, a young boy robot doll with a green hat and striped shirt. The scene featured the familiar Red Light, Green Light doll Young-hee alongside three players walking in the background. Close-up shots of Cheol-su revealed his menacing appearance before the scene ended with a green light switching on, hinting at a deadly game in the upcoming season.

Hwang Dong-hyuk, the creator, writer, and director of Squid Game, confirmed that this scene serves as a teaser for season 3. “Cheol-su, like Young-hee, is a giant doll we’re introducing in the next season,” Hwang explained. “This is also a hint at one of the most exciting games that will be featured in season 3.”

Expanding the Story

Season 2 deepened the intrigue of the series by expanding the narrative around Gi-hun’s battle against the sinister organization running the deadly games. Despite his efforts, the rebellion failed, leaving viewers on edge for what lies ahead. The introduction of Cheol-su not only amplifies the suspense but also promises a darker and more complex storyline in the next season.

Hwang revealed that the decision to split the story between seasons 2 and 3 was due to the extensive material. By teasing Cheol-su’s arrival in season 2, he has set the stage for a thrilling continuation that fans will eagerly await.
