Telegram Update Brings Major Changes
To become verified, individuals or organizations must undergo a thorough verification process
The latest update by Telegram introduces exciting new features, including third-party-powered account verification, new search filters, and the ability to turn gifts into NFTs. The popular chat app continues to evolve, adding tools to enhance user experience and platform safety.
Telegram has expanded its account verification program. Previously, only public figures and organizations could get verified through Telegram. Now, third-party authorities—such as food quality regulators or educational institutions—can verify accounts as well.
This new decentralized verification system aims to reduce scams and misinformation. Verified accounts will display a new logo, replacing the traditional blue checkmark.
“This platform will set a new safety standard for social media by preventing fraud and misleading information,” Telegram said in a blog post.
To become verified, individuals or organizations must undergo a thorough verification process and apply for eligibility. Once approved, verified accounts will feature the organization’s logo on their profile.
Verification Process for Organizations
Telegram has made it easier for organizations to manage verification. Organizations can use the Bot API to grant or revoke verification status. This system resembles the verification process on other platforms like X (formerly Twitter), where organizations pay to verify accounts tied to them.
The new system allows organizations to manage their verified accounts efficiently while enhancing the platform’s credibility and security.

Gifts Turned into NFTs
Another exciting update is the ability for Telegram users to turn gifts into NFTs. Telegram Stars, which users can purchase through the app or via the Fragment site, can now be spent on sending gifts. These gifts can be transformed into NFTs with custom backgrounds and icons.
Telegram users can trade or sell these NFTs on other platforms, opening up a new world of digital collectibles. However, Telegram will charge a fee for converting gifts into NFTs to cover blockchain technology costs.
This move highlights Telegram’s growing involvement in the cryptocurrency and digital collectible space. The platform has previously used cryptocurrencies for creator monetization and payments for games and mini apps.
Enhanced Search Filters and Emoji Reactions
Telegram has also introduced new features to improve communication within chats and groups. Users now have access to advanced search filters, making it easier to navigate private chats, group chats, and channels.
In addition, the app has added emoji reactions to service messages, such as when someone joins a group. This simple addition enhances user interaction and makes conversations more engaging.
