KARACHI: A four-member committee was formed by DIG Karachi West, Irfan Baloch, on Tuesday to investigate the findings of the post-mortem report of seven-year-old Sarim. The boy’s lifeless body was discovered in an underground water tank near his residence in North Karachi, 11 days after he went missing on January 7.
Post-Mortem Confirms Abuse and Murder
The post-mortem report revealed that Sarim was sexually abused, tortured, and then murdered. SSP Anti Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) Anil Haider confirmed that the child was strangled to death, with his neck broken. The medical report also showed multiple injury marks on his body, indicating prolonged suffering.
Haider stated that Sarim was murdered “five days ago” and his body was later dumped into the water tank. This suggests that the child was held captive for several days before being killed.
Police suspect a close relative may be involved in the crime. A DNA test is underway to confirm their involvement.
Committee to Lead Investigation
In response to the post-mortem findings, DIG Karachi West formed a four-member investigation team led by DSP Central Investigation. The committee includes officers from the Investigations Branch and will focus on uncovering the truth behind Sarim’s tragic death.
According to police sources, the investigation will also examine the union of the apartment complex where Sarim’s body was found. Preliminary findings indicate the child was kidnapped and killed inside the same building.
Public Demands Justice
The harrowing details of Sarim’s case have sparked public outrage. Residents in North Karachi have expressed shock and anger over the crime, demanding swift justice for the victim.
Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward to assist in the investigation. The police remain committed to identifying and apprehending those responsible for this heinous crime.
