Pakistan made waves at the Future Minerals Forum (FMF) in Riyadh on January 17, presenting itself as a global mining powerhouse. The event showcased the country’s untapped mineral wealth through a captivating film, Beneath the Surface: Pakistan’s Mining Renaissance. The documentary highlighted Pakistan’s rich reserves of gemstones, non-metallic minerals, industrial minerals, metals, and rare-earth elements, drawing widespread attention.

High-Profile Panel Discussion

The forum included a panel discussion titled Pakistan: The Mineral Marvel – Unlocking the Future of Mining, moderated by Mr. Imran Abbasy, Managing Director of Pakistan Petroleum Limited. Key speakers included Dr. Musadik Malik, Minister of Petroleum and Water Resources; Timothy Cribb, Project Director at Barrick, Reko Diq; and Mr. Asad Ahmed, Managing Director of Pakistan Mineral Development Corporation. Dr. Malik emphasized the government’s commitment to mining sector reforms, enhanced institutional capacity, and a focus on green energy.

The Pakistan Pavilion attracted over 10,000 delegates, offering insights into the nation’s mineral exploration and production opportunities. Government officials, state-owned enterprises, and private stakeholders actively engaged with global investors, further boosting Pakistan’s profile.

Landmark MoUs and Global Collaborations

A major highlight was the signing of four Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) between Wah Nobel Group and Saudi Gold Refinery. The agreements will facilitate Wah Nobel’s provision of advanced drilling and blasting services for Saudi mining operations. The ceremony, attended by Dr. Musadik Malik, Mr. Ibrahim (Chairman of Saudi Gold Refinery), and Brigadier Shiraz Ullah Choudhry (CEO of Wah Nobel), marked a significant milestone in Pakistan-Saudi collaboration.

Dr. Malik also held key meetings with US-based company representatives at the Pakistan Pavilion. Utilizing a 3D mineral map of Pakistan, he showcased the country’s vast potential for mineral exploration, further bolstering investor interest.

Recognition and Future Prospects

At the closing ceremony, H.E. Bandar Ibrahim Alkhorayef praised Pakistan’s delegation, particularly lauding the visually striking design of the pavilion.

The event showcased Pakistan’s strategic role in the global mining industry. It fostered collaborations and positioned the country as a leading mining destination.

Pakistan’s participation at FMF 2025 highlighted its commitment to unlocking its vast mineral potential. It emphasized alignment with global trends. The event also attracted international investment to drive sustainable growth in the sector.
