Two Pakistani cricketers, Saud Shakeel and Noman Ali, have climbed into the top 10 of the ICC Men’s Test Rankings, thanks to their remarkable performances in Pakistan’s recent Test victory against the West Indies. Despite their rise, Babar Azam, the team’s skipper, has slipped in the rankings, making this an intriguing shift for Pakistan’s cricket lineup.

Saud Shakeel Enters Top 10 Batters

Saud Shakeel played a pivotal role in Pakistan’s 127-run victory in Multan, the first Test of a two-match series. His resilient knock of 84 runs in the first innings boosted his position in the ICC Test batter rankings.

At the top of the rankings, England’s Joe Root (895) continues to dominate, followed closely by Harry Brook (876) and New Zealand’s Kane Williamson (867). Shakeel’s consistent performances have solidified his place among the world’s elite batters, reflecting his growing influence in Test cricket.

Noman Ali Breaks into Top 10 Bowlers

Spinner Noman Ali’s stunning six-wicket haul in the Multan Test earned him a place among the top 10 Test bowlers for the first time. With 761 points, Noman has proven himself as a match-winner for Pakistan.

India’s Jasprit Bumrah leads the bowlers’ rankings with 908 points, followed by Australia’s Pat Cummins (841) and South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada (837). Noman’s rise signals the growing strength of Pakistan’s spin department and highlights his ability to deliver under pressure.

Other Significant Movements

Another notable performer, Sajid Khan, climbed 18 places to reach the 23rd spot in the bowling rankings, thanks to his stellar contributions in the match. He now holds 621 points and remains a promising option for Pakistan’s bowling attack.

West Indies’ Jomel Warrican also made headlines, moving up 12 spots to secure the 41st position with 512 points. His 10-wicket haul against Pakistan was one of the few highlights for the visitors.

Babar Azam’s Fall in Rankings

While Saud Shakeel and Noman Ali celebrated their rise, Babar Azam faced a decline in his rankings. Once a dominant figure in the ICC Test rankings, Babar has struggled to maintain his position due to recent inconsistent performances.

Top Test Players Maintain Dominance

In the Test all-rounder rankings, the top 10 players remained unchanged. India’s Ravindra Jadeja continues to lead with 400 points, followed by South Africa’s Marco Jansen (294) and Bangladesh’s Mehidy Hasan (284).

A Promising Outlook for Pakistan

These performances not only bolster Pakistan’s standing in world cricket but also inspire hope for continued success in upcoming matches. The second Test against the West Indies will serve as another platform for Pakistan’s players to showcase their potential.
