Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has strongly refuted allegations of attending an anti-China event in the United States, calling them “malicious fabrications” aimed at undermining his credibility. The claims, fueled by social media posts and reports from Indian and local media, suggested his involvement with a lobbying group opposing China’s ruling Communist Party. Naqvi categorically denied these accusations, emphasizing his focus on Pakistan’s diplomatic and security objectives.
Allegations and Clarification
Naqvi clarified that his participation in a youth event during his visit to Houston was misinterpreted and taken out of context. “I did not attend any event against China in the United States,” he asserted. He described the allegations as part of a baseless campaign to mislead the public and damage his reputation.
He assured that such misinformation would not deter him from performing his duties as interior minister. “My focus remains on fulfilling my responsibilities and addressing Pakistan’s security challenges,” he said.

Accusations of Political Instigation
The interior minister also pointed fingers at certain elements for instigating the US Congress against Pakistan. He urged political opponents to avoid actions that harm national interests for personal or political gains.
Naqvi emphasized that his visit to the US was part of efforts to strengthen Pakistan-US relations and tackle terrorism collectively. He described the reports as distractions, reaffirming his commitment to safeguarding Pakistan’s sovereignty and stability.
Productive Meetings with US Lawmakers
During his trip, Naqvi held several high-level meetings with US senators and members of Congress, including Thomas Suozzi, Jack Bergman, Joe Wilson, Henry Cuellar, and Maxine Waters. These discussions centered on strengthening bilateral ties and enhancing regional peace, particularly in the context of Afghanistan.
Naqvi highlighted the importance of cooperation between Pakistan and the US in combating terrorism. “Terrorism is not just Pakistan’s issue; it is a collective fight requiring coordinated efforts,” he stated.
Commitment to Counter-Terrorism
In his discussions, Naqvi reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolve to deal firmly with groups taking up arms against the state. He highlighted the government’s efforts to develop an effective counter-terrorism strategy with international support, reiterating Pakistan’s commitment to peace and stability.
Strengthening Bilateral Ties
Naqvi’s visit to the US followed the inauguration of Donald Trump’s second term as the 47th president earlier this month. Following Trump’s oath, Pakistan’s leadership expressed optimism about strengthening bilateral ties under the new administration.
Naqvi’s engagements in the US were part of broader diplomatic efforts to enhance cooperation with key international partners. His visit underscored the government’s commitment to fostering constructive relationships while addressing global challenges such as terrorism.
Despite the allegations, Naqvi remains focused on his mission. “Baseless rumors will not distract me. My responsibility is to serve Pakistan and protect its interests,” he concluded.
