Azerbaijan Eyes Investment in Pakistan’s Infrastructure

Azerbaijan has expressed strong investment interest in Pakistan, particularly in infrastructure and communications projects. The move aims to enhance bilateral ties and boost regional connectivity between the two nations.

High-Level Talks on Investment Opportunities

Privatisation Minister Abdul Aleem Khan led a high-level delegation to Azerbaijan, where he met with Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rashad Nabiyev. The discussions focused on collaborations in infrastructure, transportation, and road networks.

Aleem Khan invited Azerbaijani investors to participate in Pakistan’s M6 and M9 motorway projects, emphasizing their importance in regional trade and connectivity. He proposed that an Azerbaijani delegation visit Pakistan in February to explore investment prospects in Sukkur, Hyderabad, and Karachi motorways.

Strengthening Transport and Trade Links

Both nations discussed business-to-business (B2B) and government-to-government (G2G) partnerships for highway development. Additionally, they explored the possibility of establishing a direct road network linking Pakistan with Central Asia, which would open new trade routes and boost economic growth.

Aleem Khan highlighted the importance of efficient transportation networks in strengthening trade. “Improving and accelerating transportation channels is essential for enhancing logistics,” he stated.

Azerbaijan’s Commitment to Collaboration

Minister Rashad Nabiyev reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s dedication to deepening ties with Pakistan. He expressed strong interest in advancing cooperation in the communications and infrastructure sectors, seeing Pakistan as a key partner in the region.

“Azerbaijan is keen to make significant progress in the communications sector with Pakistan,” Nabiyev stated, emphasizing the potential for long-term collaboration.

A Step Towards Stronger Economic Ties

The proposed infrastructure investments mark a significant step toward strengthening Pakistan-Azerbaijan relations. If implemented, these projects will improve trade routes, enhance connectivity, and create economic opportunities for both nations.
