Saudi Arabia has reaffirmed that it will not establish diplomatic ties with Israel unless a Palestinian state is created. The statement came on Wednesday, countering U.S. former President Donald Trump’s claim that the Saudis were not demanding a Palestinian state.

The Saudi foreign ministry stated that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has made the kingdom’s position “clear and explicit” without any room for interpretation.

The statement also rejected any attempts to displace Palestinians from their land, stressing that Saudi support for Palestine is unnegotiable.

Trump’s Controversial Announcement

Trump made a shocking statement on Tuesday, saying the U.S. would take over the Gaza Strip after Palestinians were resettled elsewhere and develop it economically.

He made these remarks during a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Netanyahu Confident About Saudi Ties

During the same press conference, Netanyahu said that Israel will give it a good shot in securing ties with Saudi Arabia and expressed confidence in succeeding.

The United States had spent months trying to convince Saudi Arabia to normalize relations with Israel. However, the Gaza war, which began in October 2023, led Riyadh to put the process on hold due to widespread Arab outrage over Israel’s military offensive.

Saudi Arabia remains committed to the Palestinian cause, making it clear that any future relations with Israel depend on the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
