NAB Chairman Vows Action on Karachi Land Issues

The Chairman of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Lieutenant General (retd) Nazir Ahmad Butt, has announced decisive action to tackle Karachi’s pressing land issues. He emphasized that corruption in land dealings has reached critical levels and pledged swift action to address the situation.

Major Land Corruption Exposed

While addressing an event, Butt revealed that a major land scam involving 7,500 acres in Karachi could be uncovered. He stated that this issue was more significant than other high-profile land disputes and demanded immediate attention.

NAB to Support Builders

The chairman reassured builders and developers that NAB stands with them in exposing corruption. He urged them to provide evidence of fraudulent activities by the Karachi Development Authority (KDA), Malir Development Authority (MDA), and Lyari Development Authority (LDA). Upon receiving proof, NAB will take suo motu action against those responsible.

Corruption Extends to Gwadar

Butt also highlighted corruption in land dealings in Gwadar. He revealed that cases involving lands worth approximately 3 trillion rupees have already been registered. This further underscores the widespread nature of land-related corruption across the country.

Karachi Master Plan Under Review

To tackle these issues, the NAB chairman instructed the Director General of NAB to submit a comprehensive report on the Karachi Master Plan. This review aims to identify flaws and implement corrective measures to prevent further corruption.

Commitment to Justice

Butt assured the Karachi Chamber of Commerce that justice would be delivered. His announcement signals NAB’s strong stance on land-related corruption and its commitment to holding those responsible accountable.
