COAS Asim Munir Launches Green Pakistan Initiative in Punjab

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir has reaffirmed the military’s support for Pakistan’s economic growth. He praised Punjab’s role in advancing agriculture, calling it the country’s agricultural powerhouse.

Speaking at the launch of the Green Pakistan Initiative in Cholistan, Gen Munir commended Punjab’s leadership and farmers. He lauded the Green Corporate Project, describing its rapid progress as “encouraging.”

The initiative includes the Green Mall and Service Company, Smart Agri Farm, and Agricultural Research and Facility Centre. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Federal Ministers Rana Tanveer Hussain and Musadik Malik attended the launch ceremony.

Modern Farming Facilities Introduced

The Green Agri Mall and Service Company will provide farmers with essential resources at discounted rates. These include quality seeds, fertilisers, and pesticides. Farmers will also get access to modern agricultural machinery, including drones, on affordable rental terms.

A 5,000-acre model farm will introduce advanced irrigation techniques. It aims to lower costs and boost productivity.

The Agricultural Research and Facility Centre will offer soil testing and other research services. It will collaborate with institutions nationwide to encourage agricultural innovation.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif called the initiative a “revolution” in modern farming. She said it would benefit Punjab’s farmers and contribute to Pakistan’s prosperity.

COAS Denies Receiving Any Letter

Earlier, General Asim Munir denied receiving any letter from anyone. He made the remarks while speaking informally to journalists at a luncheon for Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the Prime Minister’s House.

He stated, “I have not received any letter from anyone, and even if I do, I will not read it. I will send it to the Prime Minister.”

He stressed that Pakistan is on the right track and reaffirmed his commitment to the country’s stability and development.
