In two intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Pakistan’s security forces neutralized 15 terrorists while losing four soldiers, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). These operations come amid a rise in terror attacks in KP and Balochistan since the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) broke its ceasefire agreement in 2022.

Dera Ismail Khan Operation Targets High-Value Terrorists

The first IBO took place in Dera Ismail Khanā€™s Hathala area. Security forces launched the operation based on reports of terrorist presence.

Six Terrorists Eliminated in Miranshah

The second operation occurred in North Waziristanā€™s Miranshah area. Six terrorists were killed in a fierce gun battle. During the exchange of fire, Lieutenant Muhammad Hassaan Arshaf, 21, from Lahore, led his troops with bravery but tragically embraced martyrdom along with three fellow soldiers.

The fallen soldiers were identified as:

  • Naib Subedar Muhammad Bilal, 39, from Dera Ismail Khan
  • Sepoy Farhat Ullah, 27, from Lakki Marwat
  • Sepoy Himat Khan, 29, from Momand

Follow-Up Sanitization Operations

Following the IBOs, sanitization operations are ongoing to ensure no remaining threats in the area. The ISPR reiterated Pakistanā€™s determination to eradicate terrorism, stating that the sacrifices of brave soldiers further strengthen the militaryā€™s commitment to protecting the nation.

Rising Terrorism in Pakistan

Earlier this week, 13 terrorists were killed across five operations in KP. Terror activities have surged in recent years, making 2024 the deadliest year for Pakistanā€™s security forces in a decade.

A report by the Centre for Research and Security Studies revealed that 685 security personnel lost their lives in 444 terror attacks in 2024.

These numbers highlight the ongoing challenges faced by Pakistanā€™s security forces as they continue their mission to ensure peace and stability in the region.
