Biden Relieved Over Release of US Citizen from Gaza
Sagui Dekel-Chen Reunited with Family

US President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden expressed relief over the release of American citizen Sagui Dekel-Chen. The 33-year-old was among three captives freed from Gaza on Saturday. He reunited with his family after spending 498 days in captivity.
Biden shared his reaction in a social media post. “I am proud that the deal we negotiated has held, paving the way for the release of hostages,” he said.
The US president extended his prayers to those still held in Gaza. “My thoughts and prayers are with the remaining hostages and their families who have all been through hell. We hope all will be reunited in the weeks ahead,” he added.

Hostage Release Deal Holding
The release is part of an ongoing ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas. US officials played a key role in negotiating the agreement. The truce has led to multiple prisoner exchanges, with more expected in the coming weeks.
White House officials have called the agreement a “critical step” toward bringing hostages home. They continue diplomatic efforts to secure more releases.
Families Await More Releases
Despite the progress, dozens of families still wait anxiously for their loved ones’ return. US and Israeli officials are pressing for additional releases under the current deal. Some hostages have been in captivity since October 2023.
Israeli authorities have vowed to secure the release of all hostages. However, the exact number of captives remaining in Gaza remains unclear.
The Biden administration remains committed to ensuring the deal continues without disruptions.
