Stand-up comedian Samay Raina has been summoned by Mumbai Police for questioning over his involvement in the controversial show India’s Got Latent. Authorities registered an FIR against him after obscene remarks were made on the show. Raina has not yet appeared for questioning as he is currently touring the United States.

His lawyer requested an extension, citing Raina’s travel commitments. Mumbai Police granted him time and asked him to return for questioning next month. He is expected to arrive in Mumbai on March 17.

Deadline Set for Raina’s Statement

According to Instant Bollywood, Mumbai Police have made it clear that the investigation cannot be delayed for long. Raina must appear within 14 days of the inquiry beginning. Reports suggest he has been given until March 10 to record his statement.

Authorities are closely monitoring the case, as multiple complaints have been filed against the show’s participants. The controversy has led to legal action in both Mumbai and Assam.

Ranveer Allahbadia Goes Unreachable

Another accused in the case, YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, also faces legal trouble. Mumbai’s Khar Police have been unable to contact him as his phone remains switched off. Both Mumbai and Assam Police teams visited his residence, but they found it locked.

While reports suggested Allahbadia was avoiding authorities, he released a statement refuting these claims. He assured that he and his team were cooperating with the investigation.

Death Threats and Security Concerns

In his statement, Allahbadia revealed that he has been receiving death threats. He expressed concern for his family’s safety. He alleged that some individuals entered his mother’s clinic pretending to be patients and threatened his family.

Allahbadia emphasized that he was not fleeing from the investigation. He said he trusted India’s legal system and believed justice would prevail.

NCW and Cybercell Intervene

The India’s Got Latent controversy has drawn the attention of multiple authorities. Maharashtra Cybercell has recorded statements from at least 50 people linked to the show.

The National Commission for Women (NCW) has summoned several individuals involved in the show. Those called for questioning include judges Ranveer Allahbadia, Samay Raina, Apoorva Mukhija, Ashish Chanchlani, and Jaspreet Singh, along with the show’s producers.

Episodes Removed from YouTube

Amid mounting backlash, India’s Got Latent episodes have been removed from YouTube. The show faced criticism for its content, leading to public outrage and legal action.

Authorities are continuing their investigation, and more individuals are expected to be questioned. Raina and Allahbadia remain key figures in the case, with their legal troubles far from over.
