Pakistan on Monday reiterated the urgent need to resolve the conflicts in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and Palestine by granting their people the right to self-determination, as promised by the United Nations (UN).
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar made this call while addressing a special meeting of OIC Ambassadors at the UN. He highlighted that self-determination and the rejection of territorial acquisition through force are fundamental to global stability.
Pakistan’s Firm Stance on Kashmir and Palestine
Dar stressed that respecting these principles is essential to achieving justice in both Palestine and Kashmir. He noted that the enforcement of these rights is crucial for ending foreign occupation and securing lasting peace.
He reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to supporting the OIC’s objectives at the UN, particularly advocating for peace in Palestine. He called for:
- A permanent ceasefire in Gaza
- Unhindered humanitarian assistance
- Strong opposition to the forced displacement of Palestinians
Pakistan continues to support a two-state solution, envisioning an independent Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.

Support for Kashmiri Struggle
Dar also reaffirmed Pakistan’s full support for the just struggle of the Kashmiri people. He urged the international community to resolve the IIOJK dispute per UN Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
The foreign minister expressed concern over Israeli threats to attack Iran, warning that such actions could destabilize regional and global peace.
“Despite the hostile rhetoric, we hope all parties will seek to revive the Iran nuclear deal (JCPOA) under fair terms. This will significantly contribute to peace in the Middle East,” he stated.
Pakistan’s Call for Action Against Islamophobia
Dar also emphasized the urgent need to combat Islamophobia. He urged the UN to appoint a Special Envoy on Islamophobia, as per OIC recommendations.
He concluded by reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to working closely with OIC members during its UN Security Council term. Pakistan will actively advocate for issues concerning the Muslim world, including peace in the Middle East, Africa, and Asia.
