Pakistan’s judicial reforms took center stage as Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Yahya Afridi met with a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) delegation. The meeting focused on legal challenges faced by PTI leaders and the broader need for justice system improvements.

Legal Challenges for PTI Leadership

During the discussion, PTI leader Omer Ayub highlighted the difficulties faced by the party’s jailed founder, Imran Khan. He expressed concerns over multiple legal cases being scheduled simultaneously in different locations, making defense efforts complicated.

Ayub also raised issues regarding harassment of opposition lawyers and the frequent use of terrorism-related charges against PTI-affiliated legal representatives. He further stated that PTI’s right to public assembly has been restricted, calling it a violation of democratic rights.

Both sides agreed that legal reforms are crucial for strengthening Pakistan’s judicial framework. The discussion ended on a constructive note, with a shared commitment to advancing legal improvements.
