
Police in Karachi’s Boat Basin arrested seven private guards accused of torturing a citizen. The arrests followed a late-night operation in two locations, where officers also seized modern weapons from the suspects. Authorities are now working to determine whether the confiscated firearms were licensed.
Details of the Incident
According to Deputy Inspector General (DIG) South Syed Asad Raza, the arrested guards were employed by Shah Zain Marri, the prime suspect in the case. Marri and his guards allegedly assaulted a citizen before fleeing to Balochistan.
Police launched a manhunt for Marri and have contacted the Balochistan government to facilitate his arrest. Meanwhile, efforts are ongoing to apprehend other suspects involved in the attack.

Viral Video Sparks Action
The case gained attention after a video of the assault went viral on social media. The footage showed a four-wheeler ramming into a smaller car before several armed men emerged and began beating the passengers inside.
Authorities confirmed that the incident took place on February 18 at around 3 a.m. Following the video’s circulation, police registered a case against the guards and launched an investigation.
Police Investigation and Arrests
Using CCTV footage, investigators identified the suspects and conducted raids to track them down. DIG South instructed senior police officials to dedicate all available resources to solving the case.
The arrests mark a significant step in curbing private security abuses in the city. Police continue to pursue Marri and other accomplices to ensure justice is served.
