

Islamabad – President Asif Ali Zardari addressed the joint session of Parliament on Monday to mark the second parliamentary year of the current National Assembly.
Authorities imposed a complete ban on guest entry into Parliament House for security reasons. Only a limited number of journalists received invitation cards. Service chiefs, foreign ambassadors, governors, and chief ministers attended the session.
President Zardari outlined the government’s achievements over the past year. He focused on economic policies and their impact on the country. He also set the agenda for the upcoming year, highlighting key areas of governance.
The president stressed the need for national understanding and consensus on important issues. He urged all political forces to work together for the country’s stability and progress.

Zardari addressed regional challenges, particularly the situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). He reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for Kashmiris’ right to self-determination and called for international attention on human rights violations in the region.
The president also spoke about national security concerns, particularly the fight against terrorism. He highlighted the government’s efforts to counter extremist threats and strengthen internal security.
The one-point agenda session ended after the president’s speech. Lawmakers will now deliberate on the policy direction set by the government for the upcoming year.
