The Shawwal moon is expected to be sighted on March 30, making March 31 the likely date for Eid ul Fitr in Pakistan. According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), weather conditions will be favorable for moon sighting, and visibility is expected to be clear.
Shawwal Moon’s Expected Visibility
The PMD reported that the Shawwal moon will be born on March 29 at 3:58 PM. By the evening of March 30, the moon will be 27 hours old, making it easily visible to the naked eye. However the moon will stay in the sky for 70 minutes after sunset, increasing the chances of confirmation by observers.
Generally, a 20-hour-old moon is visible without special equipment, while younger moons, aged 16 to 18 hours, require telescopes for detection.
