
Islamabad: A mild earthquake shook the federal capital and several districts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) on Thursday afternoon. The tremors triggered panic among residents, forcing many to rush outdoors.
Tremors Felt in Multiple Cities
The quake rattled Peshawar, Batkhela, Takht Bhai, Lower Dir, Buner, and Rustam along with their surrounding areas. People reported feeling strong vibrations, but no immediate damage was confirmed.

Magnitude and Epicenter
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the earthquake measured 5.2 on the Richter scale. It struck at 1:28 pm local time at a depth of 198 kilometers. The epicenter was located in the Hindu Kush mountain range, near the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border.
No Casualties Reported
A spokesperson for the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) confirmed that no casualties or property damage had been reported so far. The PDMA assured the public that its emergency operations center remains in contact with district administrations across K-P.
Citizens Urged to Stay Alert
Authorities have urged residents to stay vigilant and report any untoward incidents to the emergency helpline 1700.
